The VHCT573A is an advanced high-speed CMOS octal latch with 3-state output fabricated in a silicon-gate CMOS process. It achieves high-speed operation similar to an equivalent bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining CMOS low power consumption. This 8-bit D-type latch is controlled by the Latch Enable (LE) and Output Enable inputs (OE#). When the OE# input is HIGH, the eight outputs are in a high impedance state. Protection circuitry ensures that 0V to 7V is applied to the input and output (Note 1) pins regardless of the supply voltage. This device can be used to interface 3V systems with 5V systems and both power systems, such as battery backup. This circuit prevents damage to the device due to mismatched supply and input voltages.
