The VHC14 is an advanced high-speed CMOS six-way Schmitt inverter fabricated on a silicon-gate CMOS process. It achieves high-speed operation similar to an equivalent bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining CMOS low power consumption. Same pin configuration and function as VHC04 except that the input has hysteresis between the positive and negative input thresholds to convert a slowly changing input signal into a clearly defined jitter-free output signal, thus providing more power than conventional inverters. Good interference tolerance. An input protection circuit ensures that 0V to 7V is applied to the input pins regardless of the supply voltage. This device can be used to interface 5V systems with 3V systems and both power systems, such as battery backup. This circuit prevents damage to the device due to mismatched supply and input voltages.
