The MC78M00/MC78M00A forward linear voltage regulators are identical to the popular MC7800 series of devices, but are specified for half the output current. Similar to the MC7800 device, the MC78M00 three-terminal regulator is used for local, on-card voltage regulation. Internal current limiting, high temperature shutdown circuitry and safe area compensation for internal pass transistors make these linear voltage regulators robust under most operating conditions. The maximum output current is 500 mA with adequate cooling.
