The FAN3216 and FAN3217 dual 2-A gate drivers deliver high peak current pulses with short switching intervals for driving N-channel enhancement mode MOSFETs in low-side switching applications. They both provide TTL input thresholds. Internal circuitry holds the output low until the supply voltage is within operating range, providing undervoltage lockout. In addition, these drivers feature matched internal propagation delays between the A and B channels, making them suitable for applications requiring tightly clocked dual gate drivers, such as synchronous rectifiers. This also enables the parallel connection of the two drivers, effectively doubling the current capability driving a single MOSFET. The FAN3216/17 drivers incorporate the MillerDriveH structure for the final output stage. This bipolar-MOSFET combination provides high current during the Miller plateau phase of MOSFET turn-on/turn-off to minimize switching losses while providing rail-to-rail voltage swing and reverse current capability. The FAN3216 provides two inverting drivers and the FAN3217 provides two non-inverting drivers. Both feature standard 8-pin SOIC encapsulation.
