The NCV881930 is a 410 kHz fixed frequency low quiescent current buck controller with spread spectrum operation up to 38 V (typical). It can be synchronized with a clock or with a separate NCV881930. Peak current mode control is used to achieve fast transient response and tight regulation over a wide input voltage and output load range. The device has internal feedback compensation, which simplifies the design. The NCV881930 is capable of switching over an automotive input voltage range of 3.5 V (4.5 V at startup) to 18 V at a constant fundamental switching frequency. The regulator shuts down during load dump conditions up to 45 V. Improve energy efficiency using a high-voltage bias regulator with automatic switching to an external 5-V bias supply. Several protection features such as UVLO, current limit, short circuit protection and thermal shutdown are provided. The high switching frequency produces low output voltage ripple even with small inductor values and all-ceramic output filter capacitors, resulting in a space-saving switching scheme.
