The NCP380 is a high side power distribution switch for applications with heavy capacitive loads and possible short circuits, integrating a 70 mΩ (DFN encapsulation), P-channel MOSFET within an encapsulation. The device limits output current to the desired level by switching to regulated current mode when the output load exceeds the current limit threshold or a short circuit exists. The current limit threshold is user adjustable between 500mA and 2.1A with an external resistor, or fixed internally. The rise and fall times of the power switch are controlled to minimize current ringing in the switching device. An internal reverse voltage detection comparator disables the power switch when the output voltage is higher than the input voltage, protecting devices on the input side of the switch. The /FLAG logic output asserts low during overcurrent, reverse voltage, or high temperature conditions. The switch is controlled by a logic enable input active high or low.
