The FAN3181 provides high peak current pulses during switching intervals and is suitable as a stand-alone IGBT driver for low-side switching applications. Protection features include undervoltage lockout (UVLO) and overvoltage protection (OCP), desaturation protection (DESAT) and fault output protection with active Miller clamping. An open-drain fault output signal provides indication of overcurrent, undervoltage, and desaturation detection. A soft-shutdown feature is used to improve application reliability during short-circuit or over-current conditions. This function works after desaturation or overcurrent protection is activated to protect the IGBT from short circuit and overcurrent conditions. The "soft" turn-off function slowly lowers the gate voltage, reducing the IGBT current.
