This family of low quiescent current low-drain (LDO) linear regulators was originally designed for handheld communication equipment and portable battery-powered applications, and can also be used in automotive applications requiring ultra-low quiescent current. Since this product has no protection against high input transient voltages inherent in automotive battery operation, it should be used as a post-regulator. This family features an ultra-low quiescent current of 2.5µA, and an enable pin that reduces current consumption to 0.1µA typical. Each device includes a voltage reference unit, error amplifier, PMOS power transistor, resistors to set the output voltage, and protection features such as current limit and temperature limit circuits. The NCV662 LDO linear regulator is designed to use low cost ceramic capacitors and requires a minimum output capacitor of 0.1 µF. The device features a tiny SC82-AB surface mount encapsulation. Lead-free plating options available. Standard voltage versions are 1.5, 1.8, 2.5, 2.7, 2.8, 3.0, 3.3 and 5.0 V.
