The NCP2820 is a cost-effective mono Class D audio power amplifier capable of delivering 2.65W of continuous average power to a 4 Ω bridged load from a 5V supply. The output power stage delivers 1.4W to an 8 Ω BTL load at less than 1% THD+N under the same conditions. For cellular handsets or PDAs, this can result in space and cost savings because no output filter is required when using direct sensing transducers. The NCP2820 uses pulse-width modulation to process your inputs, which reduces output noise and THD compared to conventional sigma-delta modulators, and achieves independent gain while combining signals from different audio sources. As a result, cellular handsets, headphones and speakers, and even melody ringers can be driven with a single NCP2820. Thanks to the low 42uV A-weighted noise floor, clear listening is guaranteed regardless of load sensitivity.
