The MC74VHC1GT04 is a single inverting buffer fabricated using a silicon gate CMOS process. It achieves high-speed operation while maintaining low power consumption in CMOS. The internal circuitry consists of three stages including a buffered output that provides high noise immunity and stable output. The device has a low input threshold on the input and a full 5V CMOS level output swing on the output. The input protection circuitry on the device is overvoltage tolerant thus allowing the device to be used as a logic level translator. The MC74VHC1GT04 input structure provides protection when voltages up to 5.5V are applied regardless of the supply voltage thus enabling the part to be used in interfacing 1.8/3.3V 3/5V circuits. The output structure also provides protection when VCC = 0V. These input and output structures help prevent device damage due to supply voltage - input/output voltage mismatch, battery backup, hot insertion, etc.
