The CS8190 is especially suitable for air core meter movement. This integrated circuit provides all the functions required for an analog tachometer or speedometer. The CS8190 takes a speed sensor input and generates sine and cosine related output signals to differentially drive air core meters. Based on industry standard tachometer drivers such as the CS289 or LM1819 with many enhancements. This output uses a differential driver, which eliminates the need for a Zener reference and provides higher torque. The device can withstand 60V transients, reducing the required protection circuitry. The device is also more sophisticated than existing devices, enabling fewer auxiliary components, suitable for speedometers.
